[A British version of 8-ball pool](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackball_(pool)) is popular, mainly for casual play in pubs. Snooker is also popular and often played in dedicated snooker clubs, due to the large size of the tables needed. Snooker competitions are televised here and top players can become household names.
The Italian traditional version of billiards is a very fascinating game in my opinion. It’s basically carom but with small pins in the middle of the table that you can knock down to gain or lose extra points.
Most pool halls have one table for this game and all the rest are American style tables on which 8 ball is the most played game.
