So i see donkey and elephant used as a representation for the 2 political parties. Does having/using elephant accessories or decor imply political alignment in US ?

  1. Not really. Though these animals are a mascot for political parties, outside of politics, no one really see these as political. They see the logos as political, but not necessarily the animal. If I had just donkey accessories and decor in house, no one would think I was a Democrat; they would think that I just liked donkeys.

  2. No.

There are two reasons where you’d choose decorations of either animal:

    1. A political campaign throwing a fundraiser or victory party.

    2. A child’s birthday party.

  3. Only when used in a political context. I wouldn’t assume that someone with a generic elephant design on a piece of clothing or something is making a political statement.

  4. No. Some people just like elephants. Same for donkeys (thought they’re not nearly as majestic as elephants).

Only in a political context or cartoon are they associated with a political party.

  5. No. I know republicans who have elephants as part of their decor, as an intentional nod to the GOP. But many people have a favorite animal and it’s common to see them use those animals in their decor or clothes. Regardless of political affiliation.

  6. None at all. Donkeys and elephants are both lovable creatures, unlike any of the politicians they symbolize.

  7. I have no idea why those animals were chosen and no one cares when they see that animal
    In a zoo or whatever

  8. No, but if you put a red elephant or blue donkey on a flag without any context, I’d probably assume it was political. But otherwise no, elephants are a pretty common animal to like and have on things
