…If you’re at work sitting in your office and someone walks down the hallway, not bothering to come to your open door or to check if you’re even inside, but instead just yells “hi” or “good morning” at you and walks away?

I’m genuinely curious because this happens to me all the time and I feel like it’s disrespectful. Is it socially acceptable to not respond or would it be considered as rude to not respond? What if I’m not even in my office but the door is open for whatever reason?

  1. I probably wouldn’t say anything. It’s less rude than screaming down a hallway for some kind of affirmation that you aren’t a ghost.
