I just had my first breakup, well sort of, things weren’t going well with my gf these past couple of days and she decided to breakup with me today, valentines day.
I wasn’t a romantic guy, I am not sweet and shit. I know I failed to make her feel special. I realized that a few weeks back and I wanted to change, so I surprised her for valentines, bought her her favorite chocolates and even flowers even though she didn’t like receiving flowers.
She said it was too late, decided to end it with me.

I completely understand her reasoning why, I’m not the best guy ever. She’s a great woman, and I failed to reciprocate.
I know we still love each other, she specifically said that, but I just want to know if it’s still worth fighting for, or if I should just move on. My gut’s telling me to fight, everyone else is telling me we’re still young, what do you guys think? Thanks in advance!

tl;dr: gf breaks up with me in valentines when I just made the move to change and improve. Should I fight and fix our relationship?

  1. There’s nothing wrong with trying but understand you will be expending a lot of energy trying to do so and it may not be reciprocated. To put it in simple terms you can bang your head against a wall but once you realize it hurts it might be time to move on.

  2. Breaks up on Valentine’s Day – even though you showed up with the candy and flowers, and have been making steps to improve the situation?

It’s done bro. She probably has another Valentine and cut it off with you.

Hopefully you got to keep the candy.
