If you like beer, wine, whiskey, etc, what styles/brands do you like? Are they local/non-local/imported? Maybe you have a favorite mixed drink that you always make sure to have the ingredients for in your home?

For those who don’t drink alcohol, maybe a favorite mocktail? Maybe a juice, agua fresca, soda, milk, or just water?

I personally go for beers of various styles or ciders, but I also recently discovered Jun which I think is sort of a honey/tea alcohol, and really liked it. I’m also big on lemonade when not drinking alcohol.

  1. Coffee; I’m not too picky about it— I appreciate the pour-over small batch stuff but I’m perfectly happy with a cup that tastes like it came from IHOP at three a.m.

Sweet tea once in a while. I’ve tried to give up sugar (especially in drinks), but it’s a beautiful experience on a hot, sticky day that the unsweetened version imitates poorly for me, even with lots of lemon.

  2. I like an unoaked chardonnay,

vodka, pineapple juice, and muddled cilantro,

    Captain and Cranberry,

    and Long Trail Double bag.

  3. I do enjoy a good wheated bourbon, but I mostly drink beer. I don’t really do specialties or microbrews because I’ve been disappointed by too many $16 four-packs. I like lagers and a good kolsch. Winter time though I prefer drinking Newcastle.

  4. Depends on my mood.

Tonight my husband and I went out for a fancy late Valentines dinner. I got a purple cocktail that was served in a dainty little tea cup. It was a delightful little drink 😀

But I might also be in the mood for a simple IPA if I’m eating something spicy (like fried chicken!)

Or it’s morning and I’m being a coffee fiend.

Or I’m having a cozy caffeine free tea before bed.

They all have their place. I’m not really picky but I enjoy matching drinks to mood.

Probably my easiest go tos are coffee and an IPA tho. I even keep canned coffee in the fridge for those mornings where I can’t be bothered to brew my own.

  5. Non-alcoholic: La Croix. We get it free at work and I must kill 6 of those sons of bitches some days. I also drink over 100 Oz. of water most days.

Hard Liquor: Bourbon. Neat, rocks, in a cocktail, or any other way. I love bourbon in all of its forms.

Wine: Generally, I prefer Italian reds, but I always put matching the wine to the food above that. It’s almost always Italian no matter what color, though.

Beer: Local, and fitting to the season. I love winter ales, cream ales, and stouts in the winter, crusher ales and citrus-y pale ales in the spring and summer, and Oktoberfests, Bocks, and Brown Ales in the fall. I also have some situation-specific favorites, like a Michelob Golden Light at a hockey or football game or a crusher ale on the boat. Some of my favorite local breweries are Summit (especially their EPA and Oktoberfest) Schell’s (also Oktoberfest), Surly (Grapefruit Supreme Crusher and Furious IPA), and Modist (False Pattern is amazing with pizza or burgers).

  6. Alcohol: Try basically anything from Great Lakes or Kentucky Brewing Company.

Non-Alcohol: I’ve been on a coffee kick recently, sweet tea, energy drinks (I like the chemical taste).

  7. I haven’t liked the taste of most alcohol I’ve tried mostly because I can’t stand how strong it is and a lot taste like medicine to me, so I don’t get a lot of the hype and I don’t drink anyways unless someone offers me something. In that case I’ll either painfully wash it down or not drink all of it, it’s what I did in college when someone offered me. (Which wasn’t that long ago, I was in college in December) The only thing I seem to like is cherry wine coolers, I drink soda daily, mainly mtn dew because I like the taste and it’s addictive for me.

  8. Sad but Mt Dew is my weakness. I know it will kill me one day but it’s my one sad vice. Currently holding it down to one a day. Prefer the sugar version but corn syrup will do.

  9. I’m not a big drinker, but I love a loaded Bloody Mary or, on a hot day, a michelada. I also like to try involved cocktails when I find them on a menu (like egg white cocktails or jalapeño cucumber type vodka/gin concoctions).

Day to day I like Diet Coke /Coke Zero /diet Dr Pepper, crystal light iced teA, hot Lipton tea

  10. Various beers. I mostly drank IPAs for years, but tired of the competition to see who could cram more alcohol and hops into a pint of liquid. Lately I’ve tended to gravitate toward lower-alcohol pilsners. Part of this is that I’m in my mid 60s and don’t recover like I used to. Another part is that I just don’t enjoy getting hammered anymore. Most of what I drink is locally brewed, and I generally limit it to a couple of evenings a week.

For non-alcoholic beverages: seltzer and an occasional glass of a local kombucha.

  11. I drink spiced rum (usually Calypso or Admiral Nelson) and Kool Aid or Lemonade. I also like a nice Tom Collins.

If I’m going out, I will just order a beer or two.

Day to day, I drink a lot of water, seltzer water, and a little Kool aid or something like that.

  12. Favorite beverages:
    – Water (with ice)
    – Seltzer (aka spicy water)
    – Cider (in the fall, but I can’t have too much or it hurts my tummy)
    – Beer (ranked: free>cold>shower)
    – Gin and tonic
    – Mojito (enjoyed by my wife and I in the summer on our deck)

Favorite alcoholic drinks to order while out:
    – Old fashioned (made properly)
    – Margarita (made properly, no salt)
    – Cheap beer (when I don’t want to spend money)
    – House wine (when I need a wine to pair with my dinner. I’m not picky, but wine with a nice dinner is 🤌)

  13. I don’t drink alcohol. I love me some fruit juices, root beer, or Italian fruit-flavored San Pellegrino sodas.

  14. Islay (smoky) scotch. Specifically Lagavulin 16 or Ardbeg Uigeadail.

Also enjoy bourbon and my favorite is probably Four Roses Single Barrel.

I prefer my whisk(e)y neat. For gin I love a good gin & tonic.
