What are some great movies that have a father/son dynamic?

  1. The A Goofy Movies are freaking great at this. Talking about both coming of age and trying to maintain that father son connection.

  2. Legends of the Fall, Real Steel, the Goofy movie in a weird way, lol. Umm… Honey boy, After Earth, aaand…. That’s all that comes to mind

  3. Nothing in Common – Tom Hanks and Jackie Gleason

Tom is a successful executive when

    >> When his parents suddenly end their 36-year marriage, he is thrown into the role of caregiver, dealing with his delicate mother, Lorraine (Eva Marie Saint), and his combative father, Max (Jackie Gleason), who provides constant aggravation and bitter remarks. When one of his parents gets sick, David must choose what is more important, his family or his career.

Its so ****ing real it hurts to watch.

  4. Ford vs Ferrari. Racing movie but his son’s admiration of his dad and when he dies at the end, had dirt in my eyes on that one.

  5. A big fish. Shows the transition from thinking your father is a hero to a man back to a hero perfectly.

  6. As for movies I would say pursuit of happyness which explores a father/son struggling in modern day poverty & it really tore me up

If you have time for a video game I would say the most recent 2 god of war games

  7. Onward

Although the movie is about the two brothers, the story tells a great father/ son story without any of the father.

  8. The Christmas Story Christmas. I know Christmas Story Christmas did not have Ralphie’s dad since he’s dead, but the movie did make me cry because of the impactful message it had about the importance of being a dad and having a dad. Ralphie went from being a kid who wanted a BB gun more than anything of the world to now being a leader of his own family and the new man of house who wants to make Christmas special for his family just the way his dad made it special when he was a kid.

That was the REAL Christmas Story sequel we deserved than that Atrocious “sequel” we had back in 2012.

  9. 3:10 to Yuma.
Russell Crowe and Christian Bale in a western about sacrifice, the dichotomy of pride, redemption, and respect between a father and son. One of my favorites

  10. Wall Street you see Charlie Sheen’s character have a different set of values than his biological father, and he seeks out father figures. This is a common thing for young people.

    Last of the Mohicans.

  11. Mr. Holland’s Opus – includes a subplot about a high school band director and his deaf son – starring Richard Dreyfuss.
