Has to be Cleveland, no?
I think Philadelphia also can be in the discussion, despite being in the championship rounds lately.
Detroit is in the middle of a pretty bad run for their major 4 teams.
The Astros won the world series but on the other hand the Texans and Rockets are among the worst, if not the very worst, teams in their respective leagues. Complex situation.
Miami seems to fare pretty poorly these days
Normally Atlanta.
Though the Braves have a recent series. In general ATL sports are cursed
I think my winner is DC. The Commies and Wizards are the kind of mediocre where you can’t imagine them as good, and the Nats are the worst team in baseball.
Detroit and Chicago would be my other contenders as they’re the only other cities with teams in all 3 major sports without a single relevant team right now.
Minnesota’s are all either bad or have a long history of heartbreak
Isn’t the answer always Cleveland? Lol
If we are talking men only, the answer is Minneapolis.
Twins: Last title – 1991. They have lost 18 straight playoff games. A baseball team should accidentally win about 5 games out of 18. They haven’t even managed 1.
Vikings: Last title – 1969 if you count the NFL Championship. Never if you don’t. 0-4 in Super Bowls.
Timberwolves: Last title – Never
North Stars: Titles – Zero. Moved to TEXAS
Wild: Last title – Never
Minnesota United: Trophies – Zero
ETA: The soccer team did win something pre-MLS but not in its current form.
Phoenix is pretty shitty for the last several years in all sports
Besides the astros the rest of Houston teams are rebuilding or tanking.
Milwaukee has had one major league championship in the past fifty years. If you consider Green Bay to be kind of a Milwaukee team (mostly because it’s an extreme outlier as far as major sports cities go), that number goes up to…three.
If you go back in time to when the Chargers and Clippers were there, San Diego. Padres have been to the World Series, but never won. Chargers to the Super Bowl, but never won. Clippers still haven’t even been to the NBA Finals that I’m aware of.
So collectively, zero championships across three different leagues.
And like every year, I am hopeful this is the year Padres finally win it all.
I’d say Seattle. The mariners held the record for the longest run without a post-season appearance. But the Seahawks get all the fame.
Charlotte, easily
Definitely Minneapolis.
well if the padres were a tree and you cut it down you would see no rings
New York.
I’m being a bit facetious, but hear me out. I really mean a subset of New York. If you’re a Mets, Jets, Islanders, and (pick either basketball team) fan, then (a) none of your teams have won a championship since 1986 and (b) you’re interacting on a daily basis with fans of teams that have had more recent championships. It’s not like most other cities, where there’s one team per sport and the vast majority of people are in it together.
I at least have the Giants, but I know plenty of people who are 3 for 3 with the teams above. It’s not ideal.
New Orleans
We aren’t the least successful, but Philly is currently #1 at being #2 with three teams playing in and losing championships games in the last three months (Union, Phillies and Eagles).
*cries in Oakland*
I’d say Chicago… especially compared to expectations. Bears just finished season with worst record in NFL, Blackhawks are almost worst in NHL, Bulls have been hugely disappointing and looked like an entirely different team when Alonzo Ball was healthy but he’s now missed over a year with a “6 week” injury, White Sox seemed poised to compete for World Series but were utterly disappointing, and Cubs are bottoming out after dismantling World Series roster.
Cleveland, Detroit
Buffalo?
Oakland is so unsuccessful that they’ve lost 2/3 of their franchises within the last 5 years
*whistles nervously*
detroit has bad basketball, football, basketball, hockey and any other sport you can think of
Regarding the Guardians / Indians, I’ve been hearing the same thing every year I’ve been alive “I just want one before I’m dead”.
She’s a massive baseball fan and was born the year after they last won.
Probably a toss up between Detroit and Cincinnati.
Dallas deserves a mention.
Rangers blew a World Series against the Cardinals. Mavs won a title 10+ years ago, Stars 20+ years ago.
Cowboys will never win anything until Jerrah the owner fires Jerrah the GM. Letting the OC leave after having one of the best offenses in the league last season is further proof of Jones’ incompetence.
