So I probably sound really stupid, but this was my first very sexual encounter and I had zero experience.

So my boyfriend(17) and I (16) were hanging out and things got a little heated. He had an erection, but there was also a little wet patch right around where the head would be. Long story short when his pants finally came down there was this gooey, transparent liquid around the top of his cock leaking from the hole. It happened again the second time we started doing things, but when i decided to ask him about it he was really embarrassed and didn’t really say anything.
This caught me completely off guard cause I didn’t really know what it was. I think my bf noticed my surprise cause he looked really shy. So I’m just wondering what that that liquid is, what it means and if I can get pregnant from it

  1. It’s called pre-cum girl! Completely normal and he was like very aroused it just means lol. Don’t embarrass him It’s just like us getting wet when we get turned on

  2. It’s normal. It’s called precum, and lubricates the penis at the tip. If he has masturbated recently and mot urinated there is a small chance of sperm being in the precum but you’d need him to be in you anyway

  3. It’s pre-ejaculate, completely normal. It’s purpose is to “clear out the pipes” of urine so the urethra is safe for sperm to pass through.

According to planned parenthood there’s a small chance of pregnancy from it, but this is a controversial topic on this sub and not everyone agrees on this. Given that you’re teenagers it’s best to treat it as if it can get you pregnant and take the necessary precautions. Your boyfriend is at an age where he’s likely having multiple orgasms per day and so is likely to have sperm hanging out in his urethra — which this fluid will pick up as it exits his urethra.

  4. Pre-ejaculate. It’s there, literally, to make him more slippery and comfortable. Happens because of arousal, for the same reason that YOU get wet when you are aroused.

In theory, you CAN become pregnant from it. Because it’s not guaranteed to be free of sperm. (i.e, in some specific scenarios, it *can* contain some sperm.)

  5. It’s called “precum”.

    > ## What is precum?

    > Have you ever noticed a clear liquid coming out of your (or your partner’s) penis while aroused? Pre-ejaculate, also known as precum, is the clear fluid that comes out of the penis just before ejaculation. ‘Precum is released during sexual arousal, and sometimes can be seen at the tip of the penis,’ says Dr Welsh.

    > But what exactly is precum? Pre-ejaculate differs from actual sperm as it comes from the Cowper’s gland and not the testes. ‘These are small pea-sized glands next to the urethra, which is the small tube in the penis that carries both urine and semen outside of the body,’ says Dr Welsh. ‘Precum neutralises any acidic fluid left by urine in the urethra. This protects the sperm that may follow the precum.’

    > ## Does precum contain sperm?

    > In theory, as actual sperm is only released from the penis during ejaculation, you’d be forgiven for assuming that precum is sperm-free. However, while research is limited on the subject, studies have found that precum can contain some sperm. One study found that as many as 40 per cent of men had some sperm in their pre-ejaculate.

    > ‘Although the precum itself does not contain sperm, as sperm is produced in the testicles, precum acts as a natural lubricant during sex and can sometimes contain live sperm, due to contamination from semen that is lingering in the urethra,’ explains Dr Welsh.

    > ## Can you get pregnant from precum?

    > **You can get pregnant from precum**, although the risk is low. ‘It is possible to get pregnant from pre-ejaculate, as there can sometimes be live sperm present within,’ says Dr Welsh.

OP’s question is an example of abstinence-only sex-education at work. So many teenagers end up pregnant because they literally have no idea how their own bodies work.

  6. This is totally normal and happens to all men. It’s called pre-ejaculatory fluid, more commonly known as precum. It acts as a natural lubricant prior to ejaculation.

Precum itself doesn’t have any sperm in it. But there’s a chance that, if you boyfriend ejaculated earlier that day and hasn’t peed since then, there could still be a tiny bit of semen left in the pipes that didn’t get flushed out and comes out with the precum, which could, in theory, get you pregnant. This is rare but not impossible.

It’s worth noting also that precum can transmit STIs if he has one. Good practice for safer sex is that his penis should be covered by a condom the entire time it’s in contact with your vulva.

  7. The other comments you’ve got so far are correct. Precum it is.

    Two tips to you newbies:

First, this is a sign he got turned on when “things got a little heated”. It’s a good sign!

Second, sex is messy business. There’s sweat, saliva, lubricants (like from your bf, but from yourself too). Stuff will happen that will be different from what you expected or you’ve planned. You’ll have accidental farts. You’ll have laughs. Someone’ll fall out of bed or twist something. After sex, you’ve got the smell of sex lingering in the room.

Just be careful (condoms, contraceptives ..), be kind and considerate, don’t force your partner into doing anything he/she’s not comfortable with, and communicate with your partner.

Sex is embarrassing, but you’re both new at this, so it’s equally embarrassing to both of you. So you can suffer the embarrassment together. Enjoy the exploration. Try to laugh of the embarrassing moments when things don’t go as planned.

  8. It’s pre ejaculation fluid. It comes out of the penis in sort of a slow ooze (doesn’t pump and spurt out like cum during ejaculation) when a guy is primed and ready to pop — like, very aroused. I think the purpose of the fluid is to neutralize the pH of any urine that might still be lingering in the penis if the dude took a leak soon before getting frisky/initiating sex… because the pH of urine is bad for the survival of sperm… thus the pre cum fluid precedes semen to clear the pH and balance the inside the penis (the urethra) so the sperm has best chance at survival as it’s ejaculated out of the penis.
