I know it is a difficult question for those of us who did not experience World War II, but many years ago while I was on holiday in Italy, I heard that the local government had to shut down an entire city after they discovered a bomb hidden in the outskirts. People told me that the neighborhood was full of bombs and mines until the 1980s, and a lot of people died when they started building new structures. It is said that the area had a large number of elderly people without limbs, as a result of frequent accidents.

I have since tried to research the immense number of weapons, bombs, and vehicles used during World War II in Europe, and the high price paid for its liberation. I discovered that some of these weapons were still in use in the hands of terror groups in Europe, such as the IRA in Ireland, the Brigate Rosse in Italy, and the Basque separatists. The Italian Mafia also used TNT to carry out terrorist attacks on civilians. Furthermore, many weapons were sold in Africa or shipped to the Balkans and used by those responsible for ethnic cleansing following the breakup of Yugoslavia. This dark and strange story was a common occurrence across the continent.

I recently watched the Danish movie Land of Mine, which paints a perfect picture of how they cleared the Danish coast of the huge number of mines.

To answer my original question, what do you know about these weapons, bombs, and other war materials? What happened to them in your country? Are they still finding unexploded bombs in your area?

  1. They find an undetonated bomb every now and then, but I live in an rural enough area that I never needed to evacuate when they were disarming the bomb.

I don’t know where the vehicles and ammunitions are. There was one elderly man who just but a tank into his basement.
