I understand that this involves some generalization but wondering what cities or regions are considered relatively friendly and social. For context, I live in Washington, DC, where people don’t really seem that interested in talking and socializing at places like yoga studios or cafes. When I went to Charlotte, I thought the people there were friendlier and super nice.

  1. Yeah, the DMV area is like that and I love it. In my experience, any major metropolitan area (in general) is going to be like that. However, I’ve noticed that people are typically friendlier in the Midwest and South (thus your Charlotte experience). West Coast, Southwest, PNW less so.

    Like you said, I’m generalizing here. However, I should note that I’m deeply antisocial, so what I think of as “friendly” might be different than how you see it.
