Your local health department, if in the United Sates, should do it for free .
Just go to your primary care doctor. They can do it for you. Should be coved by insurance as a regular office visit.
There are ways to get it covered by insurance, and most public health departments have free testing services. Personally, $100 twice a year is cheap peace of mind, so I don’t mind paying.
I live in Norway, I think I paid under $30 for the time I did an STD check, that’s because we have an excellent healthcare system here in my country, and we only pay a small fee for having had an appointment.
As for when you should do STD testing, that varies from person to person.
The more one is sexually active, the more often one should do STD checking, especially if sexually active with more than just one partner, and also if some – or all – of the sexual activity includes anal.
Planned Parenthood charges a sliding scale, can be free if you don’t make much money / might be covered by insurance.
It was pretty cheap for me at Planned Parenthood.
I live in the US and was tested about 2 months ago. After insurance it came out to about $65. Back when I was in college, I went to a local planned pregnancy and they tested me for free. Not sure if they still do
Donate blood. It can save someone and they test for some of them.
I think most Western governments provide free or cheap testing, I may be wrong though
