sorry to sound a bit clueless here, but i need to renew my passport. I have sent off the information including the digital photo. One issue Is i need to send my old passport back to the passport office. I was going to go to the post office and ask them if they can send it via recorded delivery. Is this the right thing to do? Never renewed before so needed some advice.

  1. Yes you can ask for recorded delivery at the post office to make sure it gets to the Passport office.

  2. Did mine last week. And yes basically that is the case.

It gives you the address to send it to on the application process. Find an appropriate envelope and write the address on it. Would recommend a signed for service to know for sure it gets there.

  3. I sent mine the other week. I went to Royal Mail click and drop website, paid for signed for. They then collected it the next day for free. I have a printer and printed the label. But they will print and bring along a label as part of the collection.

  4. One point to note – they will need the Application Reference number – you should have an email “Passport application received” which includes the full address – with application number. I would suggest you print that email and take it to the PO.
