What questions and topics for discussion help to maintain communication at a distance?

I’m chatting with one girl and sometimes there is quiet days when we don’t send anything to eachother. We try to meet halfway and equally suggest topics to discuss but sometimes we just have nothing to say. I like what we have and don’t wanna lose it due to lack of life experience and lack of any knowledge in my head.
