They’re set to the lowest possible dip level, I never use the high beams (it’s surplus to requirement when they’re brighter than the sun) but I’m still blinding other drivers. It’s an electric so it’s slightly raised compared to other hatchbacks, but that isn’t really an excuse. They’re factory standard, so I’ll need to do something after-market to dim them a little.

  1. I’m glad you’re concerned about other road users, but sadly I don’t think you can adjust the height or brightness.

  2. You can get stick on light masks for when you drive abroad, so surely you can get something that would effectively blinker the light to lower it’s pattern?

Thanks for thinking of everyone else though. Good egg for that.

  3. Do you have a little adjustment dial for the height. Maybe they are set too heigh (usually for ajustable ride height) although I’m sure HID have to be automatically adjustable

  4. the internal dial for dipping only goes between a certain range, on the actual headlight units there’s an additional screw control which adjusts them further.

set your electronic dial to a mid point, then use a screwdriver to adjust the dipping mechanism on the headlight units until they’re sensible.

  5. If you know the blokes in your local MOT station pop in and ask them to check if the height is set correctly on the internal light adjustment.

Edit: Internal to the lights, not the one in the cabin you’ve adjusted.

  6. Smear golden syrup on them like an old colleague said you do on frosted glass to see through it. Errr, we won’t ask how you know that.
