as the title what are the options of being referred to specialist NHS treatment if i cant travel to see my GP? i have asked for home visits but hours they are available for home visits does not suit me as im bed bound.

i know i can get a private doctor to do a home visit at a time that suits me, but do you know if they are able to refer me for specialist NHS treatment just like my NHS GP does?

  1. One thing you have to consider is if you’re bed bound, what will the specialist be able to do? Specialist doctors, in general, do not do home visits so would be unable to see you face to face. They likely would be able to do a telephone or video consultation but then you’ll equally face the dilemma of them wanting to do investigations as if you need an ultrasound or CT scan, that’ll involve you having to go into hospital for those to be done.

My main fear is you may get a referral but then little will come of it without either having an admission or changing your social environment to something of a higher level of care

  2. Yet eight days ago you were asking about renting a luxury car.

I really am virtually bedbound, (on my feet for two minutes at a time, five times a day, thats it, and even that is very difficult and at times impossible, requires a pressure mattress due to pressure sores forming from lying down all the time) if you need a specialist treatment you can ask an ambulance to take you for the appointment.

  3. You were recently asking about parking and hiring cars … So how come you can’t travel?

  4. The times don’t suit you? If you really need to see the doctor you make yourself ready for whatever time they can come to see you. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but if you are bed bound why can’t you be ready for whenever they can make time to visit you?
