I’m soon moving to the UK for work, but I will cancel it if I can’t find a place for me and my dog. I’m in west Yorkshire area close to Leeds and Bradford but I can hardly find any place that accepts dogs. Why are landlords so strict about it? There should at least be an option for dog friendly property filter on right move but it just seems like everyone is against pets.

  2. Basically they’re more likely to cause damage and will require additional cleaning when you leave, hence landlord’s reluctance to allow pets.

There are specialty agents that specialise in pet-friendly rentals. Or you could always just ask the landlord/agent. Often places are listed “no pets” by default, the actual landlord may be more open.

  3. Loads of people rent in Leeds and Bradford and gave pets. Maybe look on the cheaper end, not as bothered about decorating getting famaged

  4. How quiet is your dog? If they’re quiet literally just don’t tell them. It is extremely hard to find places that except dogs

If they’re loud then good luck

  5. Don’t tell them you have a dog is the best advice that gets downvoted on here. Make sure dog isn’t around when the landlord says they are due a visit

  6. Lost count of how many times this has been asked.

Landlords do not want their property smelling of animals or covered in animal hair.

Also can’t be that good a job move if you’re willing to turn it down because you can’t bring your pet
