I was hired at a place where I volunteered previously. During a meeting with my new boss, he mentioned that he asked the people I had volunteered for what I was like. He said they mentioned that I was hard to read (they often didn’t know if I was joking or not, he also said I seemed more “analytical” than I may think I am) and that I did not seem hot about volunteering (he mentioned that he proved them wrong and I was not lazy).

I’m not sure how I should take this. In the moment it hit upon some of my insecurities surrounding my work ethic and like-ability (particularly that I’m unapproachable or sarcastic in a mean way).

How should I interpret what he said and what advice do you have for maintaining good coworker relationships?
