Simple question do people actually use vegetable oil as lube and is it healthier than normal lube (I use warming lube)

  1. I don’t know that vegetable oil is safe… I have heard of folks using coconut oil though.

  2. Any kind of oil-based lube cannot be used with condoms, as it makes them more likely to break.

I would just spring for a lube designed for sexual use, personally.

  3. When it’s the only thing around in a pinch, yes. But I understand it can lead to bacterial growth. I’ve used butter, same thing and easier to apply, but you can’t use it regularly. When backpacking I took one of those little plastic things of butter from a coffee shop, but it was unplanned.

  4. Use water based lubes like KY jelly. They won’t stain your sheets or cause your condoms to rupture either!

Hugh Heffner used baby oil…can’t say I’d recommend that either.

  5. It’s not “healthier” than lube. Even coconut lube isn’t considered an ideal option because bacteria can grow in it under the wrong conditions.

  6. Yikes! No I’d recommend coconut oil, if you’re in a pinch. Otherwise stick to water based lubricants.
