people always think i “have an attitude.”

i want nothing more than to make friends and have people like me. yet most people say i give off the impression that i’m “rude” or “have an attitude”. i have NO awareness of this! i guess it’s just the way i talk. i wasn’t babied growing up (by a LONG shot) so i guess i’m a little rough around the edges in my speech, but it breaks my heart to hear it. i used to be a super sweet kid but life hardened me and i have to guard the heart that i wear on my sleeve naturally… how do i come across more pleasingly and showcase my true self? i don’t want to make people feel bad.
