I told her I was in psychology, and she said “that’s awesome you decided to pursue that! I find something attractive about men in women dominated fields. Are you close with your family?”. Do I acknowledge the first part of that, or just respond to the part about if I’m close with my family?

Who is the girl you are referring to? Crush? New girl? How long you known her? You can just respond that you enjoy the field and if you are or aren’t close you can just give a basic answer. “Could be assuming you are not close to your family for pursuing that field almost looking for answers” i would just respond as normal without knowing much about your relationship with her
