Why are some people so fun to converse with but are dry texters when you text them

I’ve met a lot of people in college who are fun to talk to in class, outside of classes, but when it comes to texting them, their responses are very dry or are one word responses like “ok”, “yes”, etc.. is that normal for people to be dry texters but when you talk to them in person, you can go on and on and have a nice long convo?
