I would not go to bed with loose wet hair because that way madness lies. If I did I’d need to rinse and condition it again in the morning.
I have a silk sleep cap for when I wash my hair at night. If I leave free it’s just a big frizzy mess.
You don’t go to bed with wet hair untamed. If I’m doing the wet hair, I braid it loosely. Then when it dries there’s a soft wave to it.
Speaking from experience: going to bed with loose wet hair is a recipe for disaster for me, it took me having to wash my hair again in the morning so I could “reset” how it dried, and style it again.
I wash my hair in the evening after combing it, use a wet brush when I get out the shower and let it air dry while I read or play video games. Sometimes I’ll quickly use a blow-dryer when it’s around 80% dry and brush it, or else I’ll put in a loose braid so that my hair doesn’t get tangled in my sleep.
I put it in a ponytail.
I wear a beanie to bed.
The dermatologist I used to work for recommended against that, it can cause scalp fungus.
