So let’s me start by saying I am a woman and 32 years old and have always had I serious face on. I’ve been told by my coworkers that’s it’s intimidating and always make comments of how I should smile more which just annoys me to no end.Listen I am happy but on the inside I swear. It’s not that I don’t laugh all the time I just can’t be bubbly and smile all day and plus I am working my ass off here you slackers. Lol! . My question is how should I react or say when this happens? I normally just ignore the comment but I don’t know if I am wrong or not since I have always been this way.

  1. Just reply with humor “hey, this is my happy face” with a little smile. I have the same issue and for a while it did bother me. But you know what, consider it a superpower. Humor always lightens things up but you shouldn’t change who you are only because it makes others intimidated. It’s a gift.

  2. “I think I’ll keep being serious”.

That’s what I would answer. No need to argue, no need to convince them. Just make it clear that you do you.
