I’ve tried before to just join in and assume that I’m invited since I’m a member of the household but the vibes are always off and awkward. We all live in seasonal housing, so none of us really know each other but it seems like everyone except me got to know each other first. I just sit in my room all the time because when I go to the living room I feel like I’m not welcome there </3

  1. >you aren’t invited or welcome

I do hope you realize you’ve made that up all on your own.

  2. Have you ever tried having individual conversations with the roommates? Creating those connections first would probably help the group vibe be better.

  3. Choose just one guy, introduce yourselves, ask them how was their day, they’ll ask some questions back too, if they don’t, choose someone else, that’s not possible they won’t, there would be some nice guys who wouldn’t be, “I’m better, It’s me time, I don’t care about you.”

If you’re thinking, what would they think about you , They won’t they have enough time to think about themselves.

I don’t think this is “fake scenarios in head” or something, you just need some changes in your mindset of how you should approach people.

  4. You do realize they probably think you’re the one with a problem with them? They probably think you’re avoiding them, or don’t like them, or don’t want to hang out.

This is probably a product of social anxiety. Start small-a nice greeting anytime you see somebody. Just say hi, good morning, ask how their day was. Ordering pizza? Try saying “hey I’m getting pizza anybody want anything?”. Asking about the homework, perhaps. You’ll get there eventually.

  5. Thats absolutely me every night, it drives me crazy. In my case they’re in one of their rooms and it’s awkward if I go in, but if they’re in the living room you have every right to be there. I get it’s hard if the vibes are off though, I feel that in the kitchen sometimes when I know I won’t have anything to say to them when they’re laughing so hard and just decide to stay inside instead.
