Superstition and tradition says you should get pinched if you don’t wear green.

EDIT: Yes, that’s today.

  1. Nope, but I will be drinking a drink I started making in 1980 for the occasion. Vodka + orange juice + blue curacao(deep blue color) equals a very green drink. [It appears to have a name, blue paradise](https://tipsybartender.com/recipe/blue-paradise-2/)

Pineapple juice and triple sec optional

Edit – my background is so Irish that Ireland Road led to both grandparents house’s.

  2. I’ll throw on an MSU hoodie, god knows I have enough green in my closet from those days.

  3. I looked around for some green for us to wear but I didn’t see any items quickly. So instead I added green food coloring to some bisquits, so the green is inside for me and my kids! That counts, right?

  4. Yup but my only green shirt says Mexican really big. So I am wearing green but I guess more refrencing Mexico than the Irish lol. No disrespect to the Irish, just the only green shirt I have.

  5. I don’t usually because I’m not Irish. But I sleepily reached into my shirt drawer and put on the first thing I grabbed. Which was green. 😂

  6. Head to toe. Green hoodie, green joggers, green shoes.

But my job was having a spirit week and I go hard for spirit weeks.

  7. I moved out of Chicago and have recently gone sober so I completely forgot this was a holiday.

  8. I’m wearing my trusty old green and black flannel and headed to Boston for some shenanigans!

  9. No, never have. Years ago, when I was at work, this guy I detested pinched me because I had failed to wear green on that day. I genuinely hadn’t paid attention to what day it was, for me St. Patrick’s has no meaning, it was just another Tuesday or whatever.

I slapped him so hard his nose bled. Might have been broken, but who cares.

  10. I doubt I’ll get pinched at Costco or the neurologist’s office so I’m probably going to risk it.

  11. Nope, Orange!

For those who are unaware, green represents catholics, orange represents protestants, and the white stripe represents the peace between the two.

  12. Forgot, but I put a ton of corned beef in the oven. Don’t tell me that’s not Irish. It’s what my immigrant ancestors could afford when they first came here. Weird that it’s now super expensive and we only get it this one week of the year when it’s on sale

  13. My mother, whose own mother was Irish, would have it no other way.

My grandmother denied her Irish roots; she “married above her station” during a time in American history when many looked down upon the Irish. At a young age my Mom found she could play up her Irishness and in doing so could irritate her own mother.

  14. Don’t even own green and I’ve never been pinched. I’m in Boston and if I don’t get pinched here, I don’t think I’ll ever be pinched 🙁

  15. No. There are 3 days I refuse to work as a bartender.

    New Years Eve

    Cinco di Mayo

    St. Patrick’s Day

They’re all ridiculous and are “made up” holidays to give an excuse for people to go get shit faced, spend money, become a problem and conveniently “don’t have enough for a tip.”

I’m celebrating Italian Unification Day and eating spaghetti and meatballs.
