House, techno, progressive, trance, hardstyle, industrial, whatever.

Which U.S. cities have the best electronic music/EDM scenes? Not including once-per-year festivals (Looking at you, Vegas…); I’m mostly thinking year-round clubs, venues, etc.)

  1. Didn’t Detroit either invent techno or was heavily influential in its evolution?

  2. Gary, Indiana.

Well, that’s not fair – Gary is more of the undisputed king of pop culture in general, so maybe it’s better to call out lesser known cities that have a good EDM scene like NYC, Miami, Chicago and LA.

  3. Denver is one of the best if you like bass music (dubstep, drum n bass, bass house, etc).

Although any major city will basically have constant concerts of your liking. I live close enough to Dallas and the amount of shows I wish I could during weekend trips is nearly every weekend.

Tulsa actually has a pretty good house and techno scene, which is fun. You can find a little bit of anything in any mid-sized city if you look hard enough

  4. New York

    Chicago

    Detroit

    LA

    Miami

I bet every major city has a decent scene as long as you know where to look. Boston for example is known for having horrible nightlife yet there are electronic music events running all the time.

  5. Put your hands up for Detroit! Growing up in Southeast Michigan it was awesome to be able to experience Detroit techno and get to know some of the DJs.

Chicago is up there too since it’s where US house music started.

But if you want any and all kinds of EDM from big name resident DJs, Vegas is probably number one. I’ve seen so many good shows in Vegas.

  6. Not really my scene so I’m not fully knowledgeable

Though I do know Chicago was the birthplace of house music so that’s probably a good bet
