Blackadder – it’s the only thing my father and I seem to mutually enjoy
I grew up in the 1970’s so it was Coronation St, anything with Ronnie Barker in it, Stanley Baxter, Dick Emery, Benny Hill, Morecambe and Wise Last of the Summer Wine and more recently Victoria Wood, then there were things like The Good Old Days, One Man and His Dog, Ask the family.
Gogglebox.
I hate television, but this show allows me to essentially watch a week’s worth of TV without sitting through the hours. I’m the type of person that is not even the slightest bit offended by spoilers in big shows, and Gogglebox satisfies the itch for me.
Likewise, I think the rest of the family enjoy it because the people on the show are actually quite funny, too.
2 Point 4 Children
Phoenix Nights
Back when it started back up with Eccleston wed watch Docfor Who, usually with a takeaway. That tradition started to drop off near the end of Tennant’s era.
Still have a good spattering of watching sessions as a family but nothing as religiously as that, now much more of a patchwork when we get the time
At the moment me, my wife and my daughter all watch Doctor Who over and after dinner.
Star Trek TNG
As children we used to watch shows like Jungle Run & Raven. You’ve been framed was an adult one & the odd Eastenders episode.
I’ve moved out now however recently no one watches like live telly anymore a lot of Netflix, YouTube, etc
We don’t. We did watch things at Christmas when I was a kid though.
Queen’s Speech.
Stand up and take our top hats off and everything.
When I was at uni:
X files
The Friday night comedy stuff – the fast show, Vic and Bob, whatever else was on. Why can’t I remember?!
When I was younger than that: Allo Allo
Now: my kid and I watch YouTube stuff together sometimes
Eastenders
So whenever I go back to my mums and my wee sister is there the only shows we agree on are the chase and Australian border patrol. Why I do not know.
Taskmaster. Only Connect. Think that’s about it
Vicar of Dibley, Ab Fab, Gavin and Stacey, Eastenders, Doctor Who, Only Fools and Horses.
The Crystal Maze, back in the Richard O’Brien era.
Going back a while but Gladiators, Blind Date, Crystal Maze were family viewing in my house growing up.
Quantum Leap reruns – 7pm every eve
Bread was big back in the day. I remember us running home from playing out because we knew that Bread was on.
The Apprentice.
That being said, after 2 episodes I finally told my wife I didn’t feel comfortable supporting such a disingenuous show any more.
We’ve agreed to finish this current chore of a season, and if she wants to watch it next year she needs to be prepared to do so on her own.
Still game, monty python, blackadder, world at war, eurovision
