I am a girl in highschool. There is a guy I know. We are somewhat good friends. But he never talks to me directly or first. Either I initiate the conversations or he only talks to my friends. For example, we’re in the same english class. He’s all funny, chatty, and smooth with everyone else but gets somewhat awkward and stiff around me. But after a couple minutes he always goes back to normal (he talks to me like he does with everyone else).
In my head, the only two reasons I think he might be like this is either he might have a crush on me (?) or it’s the complete opposite and he really hates me.

A crush would be my first bet, but you’re right, dislike is also likely.

You’re guesses seem to be the only answers but the fact he goes back to normal after a bit makes me think he has a crush and isn’t doing it intentionally. I think he’s just afraid he’ll do something that will make you hate him.
