I’m 31/m and I haven’t had sex in 7 years. Socializing takes more effort than it used to, especially when I was in college. I don’t have any interest in using apps to meet women, but I’m not sure what other options I have. I don’t have much of a social life these days and I’m not meeting any new women outside of work. I just figure I should resign myself to living the rest of my life without sex at this point, considering I’m 31 and meeting people is becoming more difficult.

I was in a similar situation as you and just about the same age. I was 30 and said screw it and just focused on my career and hobbies. Life was great and despite not being in a relationship I was content and happy. When I was 31 I crossed paths with someone randomly by chance and our attraction and chemistry was insane and we’ve been together ever since. So sometimes just doing your own thing and not looking or worrying about it, it can still happen.
Yep, socializing sucks.
If you make good eye contact with someone attractive when you’re out and about, like the store, gym, etc. just be ballsy and go for it!
Well you could resign yourself, continue your patterns for the next 10 years, you’ll be 41 and your social skills will continue to degrade even further.
Or you could practice small incremental steps to improve your social skills, like make eye contact for 1s/2s/3s with strangers. Practice saying “hello, how’s your day” to people who are paid to be nice to you, e.g. customer service oriented roles. Then you can move onto joining clubs or hobbies that you actually like to have fun in, and practice saying “how’s the club going for you,” and listen.
Then imagine where you would be in 1 year if you practiced that. Compound increasing those steps over 10 years, and when you’re 41 years old, you will have way better problems than contemplating about whether you should resign the rest of your life without having sex, even though you care about this completely normal and understandable human drive that every single one of your ancestors wasable to fulfill for the past hundreds of thousands of years.
