I’m very pale so any redness on my skin is super visible, so when I feel myself blushing I know that people can see it, and that thought in itself makes me even more embarassed and I blush even more, creating a snowball effect of sorts.

I don’t know what to do about it, I lose my train of thought completely and feel uncomfortable holding eye contact when it happens. How can I avoid blushing, or at least not let it bother me to the point that it gets worse?

  1. See if your psychiatrist will prescribe propranolol and take on days you think you will be involved in multiple conversations. It is a blood thinner commonly used for stage fright – it prevents the shaking, blushing, and other symptoms. Use it while practicing / getting more confident talking with people. At some point your earned confidence will take over and the blushing will stop… maybe? Worth a shot if your doctor is ok with it.

Edit: also, people worth your time will be sympathetic to blushing and not judge you. Your blushing could be a good ‘a-hole filter’
