Looking back, what amenity or resource do you feel would have improved your childhood experience?

  1. A tutor and more appreciation for physical activity. I went to a private school and was in mostly AP classes, but in some I really got lost and would have benefited from some one-on-one education. I played varsity volleyball all through high school, but I never appreciated the physical activity as I wish I had. I wish I had been put in sports earlier in life.

  2. Parents that didn’t work all the time and maybe got me assessed by a knowledgeable psychologist in earlier childhood

  3. Therapy. For my mother, when she got pregnant by a married man twice her age. Someone to tell her it’s ok to get that abortion, and to please leave this man, rather than marry him and have two children you never wanted.

  4. Money, so my mother would have felt financially secure enough to get a divorce. Feminist education, so my mother would have had words like “toxic masculinity” and “emotional labor” to describe what she was going through.
