Hello I am M(30), I been struggling with feeling inadequate due to societal standards and with dating. I fell like I don’t really have much to offer to anyone at this time at this age. I spent a lot of my 20s trying to figure things out and become a concept artist in my mid to late 20s. Now I work a IT helpdesk job right now cause I got tired of being poor and apparently I am expected by woman to provide. I am soon to be closing on my grannies old farm so at least there is that. I do have my bachelors degree and several certifications for graphic design and for IT. But I still feel like I am behind in life and that I missed something in my 20s. I am wondering how people older then me managed these feelings.

  1. You have a college degree, certifications in a couple of different fields, and a steady job — and you’re buying a farm. There are many ways in which you’re light years ahead of people your age.

Do you have any plans for the farm, or is this largely for the extra space that living out in the country affords?

As for dating: If you’re consistently dating people who expect you to be the provider, maybe you should consider dating people who have careers of their own and see household income as more of a team effort.

  2. “apparently I am expected by woman to provide.”

    Says who?

Women have their own careers these days.
