What was the worst/weirdest new job orientation experience you’ve ever had?

  1. This wasn’t exactly *bad* but one time, on my first day, I got handed a company credit card, dropped off at Office Depot, and told to get “whatever I needed to do my thing”, but this was before we’d covered the details of exactly what I would be doing. I was terrified at the time and thought it was a test.

  2. I started an engineering job in the factory and one of the first things they handed me was a dismemberment policy which outlined how much each of my limbs and senses were worth. I was told that signing the policy was a condition for employment.

  3. I did a waitress/kitchen vocational study in high school because I wanted to go to college after high school and the teachers were very strict and taught me not to act like a fool or make jokes in their class or in the kitchen because I was the class clown in school, then I did internship at a restaurant kitchen and my boss and another co-worker started making jokes and kept acting funny while I was being very serious with my work in the kitchen and then they randomly started dancing on some old Dutch party song and I was shocked because I really believed everyone that has a job in a restaurant was being very boring and serious with their work, so that really was a weird new job orientation experience for me, later my boss told me that he didn’t liked it when I was quiet so I started being a clown too like everyone else.
