mental foreplay probably isn’t the right word but i honestly don’t know what else to call it. what i mean is that before i masturbate, i (obviously) try to get in the mood by imagining things or watching videos. for some reason, the pleasure and satisfaction i get from that is so much higher than the one i get from clitoral stimulation. sometimes the physical part doesn’t even do it for me but i just go through with it to get the edge off. i do enjoy touching other parts of my body during my “foreplay”! does or did anyone else experience this? could i be doing something wrong? i’m curious about your opinions and experiences!

  1. The mental state has a huge part in getting us turned on. Dare I say the most important part.

If you aren’t in the mood mentally, even if you push all the right buttons, the physical stimulation won’t feel as good as if you’re mind was working with you.

  2. Getting yourself in the right mental state is really important. There’s nothing abnormal about it.

  3. As far as I’m concerned all of the best things about sex are essentially theatre. Narrative. Imagination. I’d say what’s going on in one’s head matters more than the details of the physical acts. Sometimes the details of the acts are important more because of their significance in the “story” than because of any physical sensation.

So this makes plenty of sense and you are doing absolutely nothing wrong. Enjoy yourself and go explore the ideas and narratives that make you throb with pleasure and satisfaction.
