That sounds like two different sides of the vaginal canal? On her back your fingers are facing toward her front, but on hand and knees your fingers are facing toward her back. There are very different things on those two sides, so naturally they feel different. The “g-spot” is only on the front wall, which you feel if your fingers are facing upward and she’s on her back.
Right now you’re concerned about what you feel and not what she feels. Ask her how different areas feel and then go with what feels best.

The g spot should feel, if in any way different to the rest of the vagina, slightly spongy. Some describe it as like orange peel in texture.
