What is the best item that you ever bought for your pet(s) and why?

  1. The cheapest, most fragile feather stick. A very specific one that one of my cats is ObSessed with, but will also easily destroy within 72hrs. We buy them in bulk now when we see them at PetsMart and we hide them so he can’t destroy them all. But, they make him so happy so we keep buying them 😂

  2. Heat pads. Both of my cats are heat-hoors and they barely move off the pads. If they do, it’s to lie on the floors downstairs or in the bathroom because there’s underfloor heating in those areas 😂 they basically move from heat to more heat.

  3. When I had harness racing horses, it was a $300 ergonomical girth. It not only allowed them to breathe better, but they also moved so much more naturally and freely compared with a regular girth. One always had issues with breaking gait in races, but with the new girth he completely stopped doing that because his front leg movement improved so much.

With my cat it’s an IKEA plush rat, because it’s her favourite so it keeps her occupied for so long. Whenever I leave the house, she’ll carry it around for a bit and then leave it for me in my bed or by my desk.

  4. I saw a nerf gun for dogs that shoots mini tennis balls while I was housesitting my boyfriends beagle. Best toy ever, playing with her is just as fun for me now as it is for her 😂 it really packs a punch so I have even tried shooting her other small toys out of it and she goes bananas every time

My housemate also has a toy poodle and she likes toys that are smol like her, so I get her cat toys. She looooves this set of little plush sushi that crinkles, I always find her curled up with one and it’s too cute

  5. For my younger dog, his crate. He *loves* it. Whenever I give him his dental treat, he sprints to his crate. If I can’t find him, he’d napping in his crate. I know they’re controversial, but I haven’t closed the crate door since he was 6 months old. It’s essentially just a bed with a door. But it’s his safe space.

For my older dog, her dental treats. She adores them and the vet said her teeth look good for her age. Win win

  6. A Back on Track blanket for my arthritic senior. If she wears it during the day, she has relatively no stiffness.

  7. A Cozy Cave knockoff bed for my dog. He loves to hide under blankets, so it’s seriously perfect.

  8. A fancy filter water fountain for my cat. Would basically never see him drink water and would have to add a bunch to his food and make it mushy cause he has had many extreme urinary issues in his life. Now he’s drinking water all the time!

  9. For the cats, it’s their “catio”. It’s a screened in enclosure attached to a window so they can go out and birdwatch, get some fresh air, without the obvious dangers of just being loose out there. 10/10 recommend.

For the dog, it’s a toss up between his anti anxiety snuggly bed and his t-shirt that says “I do what I want”.

  10. We are *big* on enrichment in my house – we do at least 3-4 different types of enrichment every day (in addition to sniffy walks and play time). But if I had to single out the best purchase I’ve ever made, it was our [digging mat](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07K981NTY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1). I thought it would be a waste of money. I thought it was like a snuffle mat.

    BOY WAS I WRONG.

We use this thing every day and my dog never tires of it. She asks to use it more than once a day (and sometimes we do).

I got a new puppy in December. This month I had to buy her her own digging mat so they can do it at the same time.

I’m about to buy two more for my mother’s house because she watches my dogs when I travel, so we always have to bring the mats.

I seriously can’t talk this up enough.

  11. My Yorkie loves to burrow. We found a bed at 5Below that has a cover that goes over 2/3 of it. She absolutely loves her little burrow bed and it was only $5.

  12. Feathers. I go to the local park and take a walk and pick up goose feathers. The cats go nuts and destroy them.

  13. A hands free dog leash. It’s good for me and it’s good for her! I’m a pretty sturdy anchor if she gets caught up with something distracting and lunges. I’ve fallen on a trail while hiking and she was right there without injury or fuss while I collected myself. I can tie my shoe or use my hands without worry or the inconvenience of a traditional leash. The only downside is that she is smart enough to use the leash to herd me, but usually it’s to keep me from bumping into walls or to let me know there’s people walking behind us and she’s right there.

She’s a Velcro dog so she’ll always come back but I like being hands free. The biggest reason is because of how many people don’t respect the leash laws in my city I’m not taking any chances or something happening to my baby because I couldn’t hold onto a flipping leash. They think it’s a nit picky law but it isn’t, it’s now we’ve avoided one bite laws, breed euthanasia and a lot of other horrible laws that harm dogs.

  14. Feeder puzzle for the cat. She used to wolf down dry food in 3 seconds flat. now she has to fish around for it and it takes her like 10 mins to finish. She REAALLY hated it at first, but she’s food motivated so she got over it pretty quick

  15. We got my senior shih tzu Walkin’ Wheels which is a little wheelchair. He was born with feet that went sideways but when he was younger, he was able to walk well. As he got older, we noticed he would constantly fall down or get tired easily, so we got him that assistance walker a few months before he passed. It will have been a year in April. He truly loved using it!

  16. A jolly egg. My dog will chase that thing for hours if you let her. We don’t bust it out all the time because we don’t want her to get bored of it but if you need to tire out a high energy dog before a party… invaluable.

  17. My kitty’s scratching post. It’s shaped like a cactus. It has been a lifesaver and has saved my furniture!

  18. A heated bed. My 18-year-old, arthritic, elderly man cat wanted to be in my lap 24/7 and would protest if I tried to get up. As much as I would love to sit on the couch all day, I have things to do and can’t sit all day with him. He never liked beds, but he climbed into this one immediately after I put it on the couch, and now I can get up and do things. Bonus: If I need to move him, I can just pick up the bed with him in it.

  19. Wall mounted cat scratcher, she loves a good stretch and hates having her claws clipped, so now she can stretch the full length or her body and wear her claws down at the same time.
