Analog computers in general are absolutely fascinating, from watches to the kinds that were actually still used in the 80s for stuff like flight simulators or some types of radar.
Ask yourself what it takes to create a computer that can calculate a firing solution for slinging a 16 inch Battleship round at a target several miles away based on data from both radar and optical rangefinders, without the benefit of modern digital computation.
