What technology impresses you?

1. The price of TVs. I remember as a kid my parents celebrating after buying a 42 inch tv for 1600 dollars in 2010 but I just bought a 65 inch a couple weeks ago for 550

2. The James Webb Space Telescope. The more I hear about it the more awesome it is, and the developers must be some smart MFs.

3. SONY made a fully waterproof smartphone that was also the most powerful one in the market. It was called SONY Xperia L1. It kicked iPhone & Samsung’s ass back then.

   Especially the CISC one, like x86/x64 intel, AMD.

   I can’t fathom how bunch of tightly packed silicons with its nooks and crannies, works

8. Smart phones in general, we have the stuff of Sci-fi from the 1960s and the world in the palm of our hands.

10. Mechanical watch movements. The powersource is a simple coil spring, what makes it able to tell you the time is the machining of a number of gears and other moving parts with such precision in size, shape and weight that you end up with a device that can accurately tell the time.

    Analog computers in general are absolutely fascinating, from watches to the kinds that were actually still used in the 80s for stuff like flight simulators or some types of radar.
    Ask yourself what it takes to create a computer that can calculate a firing solution for slinging a 16 inch Battleship round at a target several miles away based on data from both radar and optical rangefinders, without the benefit of modern digital computation.
