To those men who have had vasectomy for your partners and do not have kids,

what’s the key element of the decision? (excluding those who do it for yourselves purely i.e. you know you don’t want kids or you already have kids etc.)

Any regrets?

  1. My wife has been on hormonal birth control for years and very understandably wants to stop. Plus it feels kind of nice to be taking responsibility for our contraception after years of not really doing anything.

I have no regrets, but we’re also pushing 40 so kids weren’t in the cards for us anyway. If you want to have children, or even think you might, do not get a vasectomy. That’s a one way ticket to regret and resentment

  2. I do have a kid but I’ll say this for anyone reading the thread.

If you are male and 100% sure you are done having kids (this includes if you have no kids and don’t want them) get snipped. It’s literally not a big deal. I drove myself home from mine.

  3. She already had kids and didn’t want any more. So I got it done which is far less complicated than having her tubes tied.

I should have done a little more research and got a doc with more procedures under his belt.

  4. After birth of our second son, it was way easier on me to get the V, than for her to get her tubes tied and she wasn’t staying on the pill
