It’s not a full contact sport like football but getting knocked around is part of the game. It’s substantially more physical than something like baseball or volleyball, where people don’t run into each other outside of exceptional circumstances.
No, where did you hear this?
It’s absolutely a contact sport in the same way that soccer is.
No it’s not football or hockey.
Anybody who doesn’t think so never played center
Edit: by definition it is a contact sport. Non-contact sports are things like tennis or volleyball where opponents have their own zone.
Doctors consider it a contact sport, along with soccer. Sports like hockey and football are “collision sports”.

Yes. It’s not the same level as football and hockey, but there is absolutely contact in both basketball and soccer.
Contact = both teams touch each other.
Contact sports:
– Football
– Hockey
– Soccer
– Lacrosse
– Basketball
– Rugby
Non-Contact sports:
– Volleyball
– Tennis
– Golf
– Baseball/softball (mostly)
I’m watching Creighton vs San Diego State and they are whacking the hell out of each other. People are going down, people are bleeding
Well you come into contact with the other team unlike tennis.
No, not really.
How would you explain a foul without contact
The way I played it, yes. I was a really aggressive 8th grader. Blood was left in the court
It’s a contact sport in the same way soccer is.
It’s not a collision sport like hockey or football are.
It’s not a sport where players actively try to hurt other players, but there’s absolutely contact in basketball.
You clearly haven’t seen a Warriors game where Draymond Green uses many moving screens to get players open, or Giannis literally charging people down the court.
It isn’t full contact like football but it is very physical. Watch a game and see the contact around the rim
Contact? Yes. Collision? No.
There is a difference..
It’s a contact sport. Also try and play with shaq. What you think of contact we call collision sport

The players regularly come in contact with each other, therefore it is a contact sport.
Contact sport: *noun*, any sport in which physical contact between players is an accepted part of play
Watch 30 seconds of any basketball game and you’ll see it’s a contact sport
My brother got more concussions playing high school basketball than he did during soccer.
People have weird definitions of contact sport.
The conventional understanding is: Since physical contact (more than just incidental contact) is not permitted by the rules (i.e. it is a foul if it happens), then it is not a contact sport. As opposed to hockey which is a contact sport because physical contact is permitted by the rules.
If you watch basketball, you’ll see the contact.
