I am due to start a new remote position tomorrow but haven’t heard from the employer since last week (they sent over new starter forms etc). I have emailed asking them what I will need to get started e.g. Teams / Slack, and getting access to an email account etc but not had a reply.

My previous role I was also remote & I knew more than a week before I started what I needed and had a plan of action for my first week, the new company is much larger than my previous employer though

I will be ready to work and hopefully someone reaches out but it’s not filling me with hope that they will

  1. Just don’t do anything. If they haven’t told you what to do then there’s nothing you can do.

  2. Call them and speak to somebody. This person may be sick or in an accident or just plain shit at their job.

I work in IT and some employers will have us set up accounts days or sometimes weeks in advance. Others will call up after the start date to complain you didn’t set up accounts for a person they never told you was starting. Once, I found a person had been working for the company for over a month. HR, accounts and IT didn’t know.

  3. Likely a clerical error. They messed up with me because my email address is .co.uk but they sent the email with the info to .com.

  4. Update if anyone was wondering, I have rejected the job as I got an email at 9:15 (after calling the office at 9) asking why I wasn’t in the city for the induction, even though this was never discussed with myself and received no correspondence from themselves telling me about this. If they can’t sort out basic emails and communicate with new employees then what other problems would I have had going forward.

This is a large business, with offices across the UK and Australia and been going for 20+ years, with existing remote staff
