Someone at work has picked up this habit of prefacing any idea proposal with “Would it be a bad/ terrible idea” – this rubs me off wrong and I’m not able to point exactly why. I think it’s mostly because (a) I’m uncomfortable negating it and thus somehow calling it ‘terrible’ when I wouldn’t describe it that way (b) for an idea to not be terrible feels like such a low bar for professional standards? How do I either make peace with it or respond to it? Thank you!
