I’m helping set up a small event for Easter and I’m in charge of making the playlist for the event. I’m currently in the south by Alabama, Georgia, Florida. I have some ideas for songs, but I’m from various northern cities so I don’t have much knowledge on country music and what people in this area generally like.

I’m simply looking for clean, kid-friendly music and maybe related to easter if you know any. Thank you so much!!

  1. Just use current pop music, that’s what kids listen to and respond to. Girls love Taylor Swift. KidzBop also remakes songs to remove any questionable content.

  2. The obvious answer would seem to be Easter themed songs from Christian bands. Unless this is a non-religious Easter gathering? Which would be weird. Perhaps it’s an event for people to pretend like they’re religious for the day? In that case go with the Disney ideas.

  3. Sweet Home Alabama, Take me Home, Country Roads, lots of Elvis… Heck, most of the music I can think of is kind friendly. You ever hear the beach boys? Classic fun music. (Though some of the beach boys songs reference sex, filter accordingly)

  4. Disney music. My kids listen to Disney music all the time. Doesn’t get much more American than Disney.

  5. Train Trussle by U-God and Ghostface Killah. It’s about trains they’ll love it.

  6. My mom happens to be a longtime fan of the Chapin family, including Harry Chapin (the guy who wrote Cats in the Cradle) and his brother Tom.

Tom actually does a lot of children’s music as part of his career, which my mom used to play for my brother and I for pretty much all of elementary school.

    Songs he’s done include

Homemade Lemonade -literally a song about kids with a lemonade stand

The Ghost of Bleak House-about a haunted house

Billy the Squid-western style song but underwater with sea creatures

Bruno’s Christmas on the Mall-kids get trapped in the mall at night and go wild playing with stuff in the stores

Cousins-a song about cousins coming to visit and causing a lot of mayhem and ruckus

    Da Baby Sitter-fairly self explanatory

Don’t miss the bus-a song about getting to the school bus on time

My partner works in an elementary school and has been known to use this same music for the kids there.

It’s definitely clean kid friendly music, but I wouldn’t say it’s easter related. Though the Chapin brothers were big environmentalists, so Tom does have a few kids songs about that, including “Good Garbage” and “Happy Earth Day”

  7. Check out Jonathan Richman. I’m a Little Airplane was featured on Sesame Street and he has a lot of other kid-friendly tunes (Corner Store, Abominable Snowman in the Market, I’m a Little Dinosaur, Nature’s Mosquito, more.) Not country but kid friendly and adults can enjoy it too.

  8. Trout Fishing In America has won multiple grammys in the kids category, and has music for kids and adults. Lot of great albums
