Generally, “negativity” is regarded, socially, as a character flaw. You are supposed to focus on the bright side, never complain, never be too realistic, etc. Every post, or self help book, or resource about socializing tells you to avoid negativity, but then they also tell you to be genuine. It’s like, make up your mind!

Obviously, if you go around just straight up moaning and ranting, it’s a bummer. But how do positive, bubbly people feel about things like sarcasm, and using humor to call attention to the stupidity and annoyances of the world? Do glass-half-empty, cynical types get a free pass to be pessimistic and critical as long as it’s funny?

Would love to hear any opinions or experiences!

  1. How something is talked about matters. If you talk about someone dark but find the humor in it or just make an interesting conversation out of it, then you’re good
