I am attempting to preserve a piece of Tomb Raider media that’s, mostly, lost to time. Back in 1999, The Times was celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Tutankhamun’s Tomb discovery. In collaboration with Eidos, they released an exclusive video game level for the latest installation of Tomb Raider at the time.

Alongside the game, they had a section in the magazine called “A Girl Called Lara”. Which featured a short story called “Down Among The Dead” written by Erica Wagner. The story was split into seven chapters with each chapter being released on a Saturday. Starting from November 27th 1999 until January 1st 2000.

The Tomb Raider community does not have all of these chapters preserved. It would appear that no one scanned all of the pages and that they might be lost to time.

After doing some research, and searching the Internet far and wide, I discovered that The Times has a digital archive of sorts which might contain these lost chapters.

From my understanding, a subscription is needed to access the repository and I am not sure if that’s an option for a person who does not reside in the UK such as myself.

So my question is, could someone who has access to this archive check if these stories we need for preservation are indeed present there? And if so, how could a person living outside of the UK get access to them?

Thanks in advance for all your help! Any information would be appreciated by the Tomb Raider fans!
