I (22f) have been sleeping with and spending the majority of my time with a friend (21f) who left a relationship less than a month ago.

I’m worried I’m preventing her from really working through the breakup. I don’t mind being a rebound (I’ll be moving soon), but I don’t want her life made worse by me.

Some background: We became friends after I rejected her very forward advance a little over a year ago. I rejected her because I knew I was going to be overwhelmed by work and wouldn’t be able to focus on her at all, plus I was feeling uncertain about my sexuality.

A few months after that, I was thinking of asking her out to see if we could make it work. I didn’t get a chance to because she revealed she started dating her roommate.

We didn’t see each other all that much since then. Basically sporadic meetings, but very long ones. And texted a fair amount.

She started reaching out more a couple months ago. Last weekend, she came over and revealed she’d broken up with roommate a few weeks back. It was a long, weird, night and we ended up sleeping together. It’s a fling, but we’ve been spending so much time together that I wonder how healthy this is for her.

Anybody been on the other side of this? If so, can you share what you were thinking? FYI, we are going to talk.
