Just to be clear, I’m not talking about specialist chains like Veggiegrill, I’m talking about your bog standard chains like McDonalds, Wendys, Taco Bell, Denny’s, Jack in the Box etc. I feel like I’m missing out on the hype around In-n-Out burger and so I want to have another popular fast food chain I can develop a cultish religious devotion to.

I’m in California if that helps.

  1. I believe both Burger King and Carl’s Jr. offer the Impossible Burger and Beyond Burger (respectively).

  2. Back before my sister went full vegan, Taco Bell was considered viable for her. Their bean and cheese burrito is pretty good. However, my understanding is that the vegetarian options at a lot of places have been massively improving in recent years. So, there’s probably much better options out there now than there were when I was growing up.

  3. Taco bell and Del Taco. Del’s Beyond Epic Burrito is 100% vegan and also large as fuck. They both offer a lot of choices for vegetarians because you can generally substitute beans/potato/black beans for stuff. Del has beyond meat options. Taco Bell doesn’t but I like it more generally.

But a lot of them now have decent products. Carls Jr makes excellent Beyond Burgers. Burger King impossible is edible but not that great. Subway does their veggie pattie well (it’s vegan now)

Dog Haus(not big) has one of the best impossible burgers I’ve eaten and also various Sausage/brat options.

    >Jack in the Box

Has really nothing for vegetarians except for their breakfast platter which is bacon/sausage, eggs, mini pancakes, and hashbrown.

    >Wendys, McDonalds

two of the worst for non meat eaters. You can’t even eat McD fries as they still do the beef fat thing iirc.

    >In N Out

you can get grilled cheese with onions. It’s delicious. (But funnily also not on their menu)

  4. Gotta be Taco Bell. I’ve been a vegetarian for 10 years now and TB is my go-to fast food. Especially now that you order in the app or at a kiosk at the counter, it’s so easy to sub out the meat. But they’ve always been accommodating in my experience.

  5. Taco Bell is easily the GOAT for vegetarians and even vegans. Their menu is extremely easy to customize to make food vegetarian by switching the meat out with beans or potatoes. Practically everything on the menu can be made vegetarian and with some adjustment, somethings can be made vegan

  6. There was a place called Sweet Tomatoes. but they closed down where i live. Not many vegetarian places i know of. but then again, im not a vegetarian.

  7. Chipotle and taco bell both have very tasty vegetarian options

Whole foods prepared foods department always has veggie stuff. They usually can heat it up for you if you want to eat now, and there’s usually a little picnic area inside or just outside the store.

A lot of burger places (McDonald’s, burger King) are offering the impossible burger, which is vegetarian. They also have fish sammiches if youre pescatarian (because fish are dumber than plants). Check the menu online before you go.

You can get a veggie-only salad from Panera. They may have tofu, they def have hardboiled eggs for protein if you’re doing eggs. Maybe chickpeas?

Any pizza place can do you a plain cheese pizza. Your better pizza places will have veggie pizza.

A lot of bbq places will have Mac and cheese and an interesting recipe for potatoes and sweet buttery corn bread (heaven). If you’re with a group of carnivores, just check the menu online. You can always get a side dish/appetizer for dinner.

  8. Jimmy John’s has a good vegetarian sub. I think it’s cheese, avocado spread, lettuce and tomatoes.
