ALL food serves 1.
Delia Smith pancakes. Makes 14-16…. More like 5. https://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/main-ingredient/eggs-recipes/basic-pancakes
“I was born a male, I identify as a male, but according to Sainsbury’s recommended servings, I identify as a family of four”
Wee jar of tuna paste from asda has 5 servings apparently. 1/5 wouldn’t spread even half on 1 slice of bread.
I can’t stand anything where the numbers don’t divide nicely. Domino’s large says it comes cut into 10 slices, but serves 3 to 4. I would just eat a whole one myself anyway, with no sides.
Angel Delight. 4 servings in a pack, supposedly.
500ml bottles of pop – serves 2. Who’s drinking half a bottle of coke?
I believe Colin the Caterpillars are 16 servings.
I find that mental because I could finish him by myself in three nights.
The problem is nobody any longer has a properly calibrated sense of what a proper serving is – This is one of the root causes behind obesity. From very young, people are conditioned and trained to over-eat and so by the time they reach adulthood their sense of proportion is all out-of-whack.
Apparently you’re only supposed to eat two weetabix
Bought a Chinese duck pancake kit from Costco the other day. Have had it before but I didn’t see the packaging last time. Was mildly horrified to learn that my partner and I apparently have the appetite of 6-8 people.
Any packet of sweets labelled ‘sharing bag’. Also, ‘7 sweets = 1 serving” or similarly silly statements on things like Skittles where you can easily have more than that in one mouthful.
A single serving of Nutella is 15g, or a tea spoon’s worth.
Make of that what you will.
Any recipe by Jamie Oliver has tiny portion sizes to reach the so-called cost of the meal
Cereals are the ones which always get me, have Kellogg’s seen how little a 30g bowl of cornflakes is?! Though apparently it’s something to do with certain laws, so food companies get around them by putting daft serving sizes on the packaging.
A lot of these are also calibrated as if they aren’t the only thing in the meal. That microwave pasta thing that serves two? The people who make this stuff up assume or imply that you’ll also have a garlic bread between you, for example
Lunch deal salad thing from m&s, just some leaves and tomatoes with a mustard dressing 55 kcal, size of a normal bowl… Serves 2.
M n S small pork joint, said serves 2-3. It was a chop! A CHOP!
Had chilli nachos in the pub last night. For 2-3 people, apparently, but came in a regular bowl and no one helped me with it…
