Middle School. Kind of feel that’s when I started using it, and I stopped after high school.
The internet is full of opportunities. If they can have a mature discussion about it, they should be able to use it. Probably 14-18 range.

Social media is a toxic place that nobody under 21 should be using

We let our child on in 2010 at the age of 8
My answer is, “it depends.” Not all children are the same, so the answer is not the same. Also, how well have you prepared your child to be able to use social media sites safely?

Knowing what we know about social media now, I’ll always be against my kid getting involved in it. But at some point there’s not much I can do. So whenever they get their first smart phone I suppose. Probably 16-18
A coworker of mine found his daughter, who was fourteen at the time, posting non-nude bra-and-panty shots of herself on twitter and banned her from using social media.
I never used to think about age restrictions before that incident, but afterwords I thought it should be 18+.
I mean, when I was a teen there was no social media, but I did some crazy shit of my own, so I just don’t think teens really have the capability to understand the long-term consequences of the stupid shit they do.
As someone that doesn’t use social media anymore, it would be 18+. That way they’ll have a brief understanding of what’s right and wrong with a mind developed enough to make their own decisions compared to anyone much younger. At least that’s what any sane parent would hope for.

I’ll do my utmost to ensure that they won’t feel any desire to use them 😄
The later the better, obviously. My trigger point will be when not having it starts seriously hampering social interactions.

I’m pretty sure social media is dying out with this generation. My kid turned 12 today and him and his friends have zero interest in social media. Sure, they watch TikTok and YouTube videos, but they don’t post anything or have Facebook accounts. I once asked him about Facebook, and he just said it’s dumb.
