It helped me to recognize that jealousy is a secondary emotion. Jealousy is like the warning light on the dashboard pointing to deeper issues like anxiety, fear of loss, insecurity, etc. When I have encountered jealousy in the past with friendships, I wasn’t able to move past it until I was able to identify what I was actually feeling and sit with that emotion and figure out what I needed to do.
When thoughts of jealousy rise up I think of as many reasons I love my friend and why I should be happy for them. Other than that I pray.
