  1. Europe by Tim Flannery. A book about the natural history of Europe from 100mya to the present day. Very fascinating read.

The Human Tide by Paul Morland. A read about population growth and fall in the past 200 years and about how influential it is in history.

  2. Romantic Outlaws, about mother and daughter Mary Wollstonecraft and Mary Shelley, was absolutely amazing.

  3. David Starkey’s Six Wives: The Queens of Henry VIII. It’s dense but each wife gets her own section with as much detail as possible.

  4. Outliers – Malcolm Gladwell, Educated – Tara Westover, Daily Stoic – Ryan Holiday, Sapiens

  5. “Into the Wild” by John Krakauer. I avoided it for a long time because I didn’t care for the movie at all, but the book is so good!

  6. Born a Crime by Trevor Noah

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot

  7. A dictionary of Tolkien, by David Day.

Not sure if it should count as non-fiction though…

  8. If you like reading about scams — Empire of Pain by Patrick Keefe and Bad Blood by John Kerryou. Both excellent.

  9. “How The Irish Saved Civilization” By Thomas Cahill (Western Civilization that is).

“Jane Austen’s England: Daily Life in the Georgian and Regency Periods” by Roy and Lesley Adkins.

“Murder in the Adirondacks: Fully Revised and Expanded Edition” By Craig Brandon
